Introducing ASMN Premium Members

As we embark on the journey of the second half of 2024, DEPECOS Institution and Development Research Centre (DIaDeRC) is proud to unveil and celebrate 1st Batch premium members of the African Scholars Mentorship Network (ASMN). Our ASMN premium members are professionals in industry, administration and academia who desire to expand the frontiers of their professional calling by tapping into available resources and opportunities that DIaDeRC will be sharing with them towards evolving the requisite collaboration, numerous networking and accessing grants/fellowship opportunities.

Oluwafemi J. Adedamola

Holds a BA Edu., and MFA from OAU, Ile Ife, and an MSc in Tourism Development from the University of Ibadan. He has been a practising artist for over 29 years and currently lectures at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. His Creative abilities include:  Ability at initiating enterprises, natural promoter Tourist Development Consultant.

Marcus T. Adedara

Is a distinguished scholar in Tourism Development, Hospitality, and Events Management. He holds a Ph.D. from Afe Babalola University (2023) and an MSc from the University of Ibadan (2014). With over a decade of experience in academia and professional training, he actively promotes digital skills and leadership among youth through community initiatives. He has extensive publications focus on tourism, digital technology, and sustainable development.

Adediran O. Folake

Is a Doctoral Scholar at Afe Babalola University with an M.Tech in Analytical Chemistry and holds a Microsoft Certified Educator certification. Her research includes “Interference Studies in Visible Spectrophotometry of Silica: Prepared from Rice Husk and Medical Clay.” With expertise in  research, teaching, and hotel operations management, she excels in training programs, staff development &  guest satisfaction.

Yinka Adediran

Is a Senior Lecturer at Tai Solarin University of Education and specializes in Social Studies Education, Civic Education, Curriculum Studies, and Teacher Education. She is known for her extensive research and publications and actively contributes to academic forums through seminars, conferences, workshops, and short courses, shaping educational practices both locally and internationally.

Adedolapo Ajala

She is a researcher and lecturer at the Agricultural Economics Department, the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso Oyo State, where she specialises in Environmental Economics. With over ten journals published and four upcoming publications focused on the field of Environmental Economics, Dr Ajala has presented papers at 5 local conferences and supervised several final-year theses using diverse analytical tools and data sources.

Adeleke Oluwayemisi

Holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Benin, funded by the African Economic Research Consortium. She graduated from Covenant University in 2006 and earned her master’s degree from the University of Ibadan in 2010. She is an associate member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA). Her research interests span Macroeconomics, Financial Economics, Development Economics, and more recently, Environmental Economics and Gender Studies.

Agboola Bukunmi

She transitioned to a research role at Lagos Business School having taught in post-secondary school previously. With Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Economics. He has conducted two systematic reviews and identified gaps in the process. His doctoral goal is a PhD scholarship, focusing on financial inclusion, inequality, health economics, and other developmental challenges aligned with United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Igharo A. Endurance

Holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Calabar. With a strong dedication to research and a profound understanding of economic principles, he is focused on making substantial contributions to his field. His scholarly publications in Scopus-indexed journals underscore his expertise and commitment to advancing economics through rigorous academic inquiry.

Samuel O. Binuomote

Is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Eswatini, Swaziland. He was a one time Deputy Dean at Ladoke Akintola University of Tech, Nigeria, and he specializes in Applied Econometrics, Agricultural Production Economics, Development Policy, Trade Policy, Environmental Sustainability, and Energy Economics. A member of multiple professional bodies including Nigerian Economics Society and IAAE. he has supervised numerous PhD and Masters students. Appointed full Professor in 2019, he brings over 17 years of teaching experience to his role.

Lydia Chineyemba

Is a scholar in anthropology and faculty member at Chrisland University, Abeokuta. With over eight years of teaching and research, she applies anthropological insights to criminology and security studies, offering a multidisciplinary perspective. Her research spans gender studies, juvenile delinquency, social deviance, and victimization, reflected in publications in local and international journals. Experienced in academic leadership, she has served as Dean and Head of Department, demonstrating effective leadership and driving successful initiatives.

Ekiran M.O. Peculiar

Is currently the Special Assistant to Ekiti State’s Governor on Tourism Development. He is an SDG Goal 11 advocate and founder of Discover Ekiti Tourism Club in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State. He is a chartered marketer and member of NIMN, ATPN, and FTAN. With expertise in social impact management, tourism, destination branding, and place marketing. He promotes Ekiti State through initiatives like Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari, earning multiple tourism awards. He is pursuing an MBA at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.

Eyisi Jr. Joy

Is an arts-in-health enthusiast with research interests in Medical Humanities, Education, Digital Humanities and Creative Writing. She holds a PhD in English Language. She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Languages & General Studies at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. Prior to joining Covenant University, she worked at The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Emeka Eze

Is a researcher with a strong passion for continuous learning and personal development. His interest lies in microeconomic research, particularly within the realm of Development Economics. He is an expert data analyst, adept at utilizing advanced tools like Stata and R to derive meaningful insights. His passion is to contribute significantly to the field through rigorous research and innovative data analysis methodologies.

Fajobi T. Deborah

Is a distinguished Agricultural Economist with proficiency in E-Views, R, and Stata for rigorous data analysis. Her expertise in economic modelling informs policy and business decisions in agriculture. She integrates blended learning techniques to enhance student engagement, emphasizing sustainable agricultural development. Deborah’s contributions span publications in prestigious journals and advisory roles shaping global agricultural policies, particularly in food nutrition and pricing outcomes.

Adesoji Farayibi

Is a Development Economist and Public Policy Practitioner leading Economic Development and Research at DAWN Commission. His research focuses on sustainable finance, geo-economics, and energy economics, supported by his affiliations with Nigeria Researchers Community, IPA, and DIaDeRC Network. Recently appointed Chair of the Business Subcommittee at UIRESDEV, University of Ibadan, he is pursuing a PhD on labour productivity and output growth in Nigeria.

Ibitowa Stephen

Is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) and a fellow of the Institute of Economics of Nigeria (INEN). His academic journey began at the University of Ado-Ekiti, where he obtained a BSc in Economics, thereafter bagging an MSc and a PhD in Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Dr Ibitowa is an affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN), focusing on applying economic principles to governance and public administration.

Omowumi Idowu

Is a Senior Lecturer at Ekiti State University. She received the 2015 WARC Travel Grant from the West Africa Research Association. She is a fellow of the Lagos Studies Association with research focused on women’s issues in the African context. Her articles appear in various local and international journals, reflecting her international academic outlook and scholarly achievements through grants and sponsorships, distinguishing her among her contemporaries.

Jude O. Ikubor

Dr Jude Ikubor is a staff member of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, where he lectures at the Department of Economics. Dr Jude Ikubor’s areas of research interest include Development, International Economics and Financial Economics, with several publications in the field. He has attended several workshops and conferences within and outside Nigeria.

Is currently the head of the Division in charge of Transfer Pricing compliance at the International Tax Department, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Finance, and he is an International Tax expert and a pioneer staff who, alongside other team members, established the Transfer Pricing regime in Nigeria. He has over 13 years of experience in tax policy and administration. He is a fellow of ICAN and CITN and also holds an Advance Diploma in International Tax (ADIT) UK. 

 

 

Is a Senior Lecturer at Babcock University with over 13 years of experience with a strong background in teaching and research in accounting. He has PhD in Accounting, M.Sc in Corporate Finance and BSc in Accounting. Associate Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

Maina Paul

Is a mechanical engineer and a researcher in energy and environmental field. He is passionate about studies in renewable energy and open to collaboration towards venturing into any meaningful research field which will be beneficial to humanities.

Meseko Alfred

Is a lecturer at the Kogi State Polytechnic where he currently lectures in the Department of Social Science and Humanities. He started his career in Construction/Telecommunication industry on the background of his undergraduate degree in Architecture and Land Survey. After the completion of his postgraduate degrees and with a doctoral, he transited into the academia.

Dasauki Musa

Is a Lecturer of Economics with over 8 years of teaching experience, and a research interest in energy, climate change, environment, and economic development. He has a strong passion to collaborate with experts across various fields and has over the years won grants and funding to support ground-breaking research projects.

Nse-Nelson A. Florence

Is a lecturer in Agricultural Economics at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State. With a background including a Ph.D and MSc in Agricultural Economics, her research focuses on Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. She has authored 23 peer-reviewed journals, 7 conference proceedings, and 5 book chapters. Dr Nse-Nelson also contributed as a resource person for the “Impact assessment of TETFUND interventions in tertiary institutions in Sokoto State, Nigeria in 2019.

Onyinye Ochuba

Has 5 years experience in banking, and teaches Economics at the University of Africa, Bayelsa State. She is an Economist with specialty in Environmental Economics. Dr Ochuba holds a Bachelor, Masters, and PhD degrees in Economics, and a Masters in Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies. Her research focuses on population dynamics, flooding, food security, plastic pollution, and resistant pollutants. She is passionate about the environmental impact of Economics.

Odiba Unekwu

Is a lawyer, writer, investigative magistrate, and researcher specializing in innovative approaches to climate justice within the legal system. With over 8 years at Kogi State Judiciary, she has handled 100+ cases, focusing on climate-induced issues. Unekwu holds a law degree and a certificate in climate change mitigation and adaptation. She advocates for social justice in climate change, aligning with SDGs 5, 12, and 16. Currently, she pioneers climate change-induced litigation globally, urging the legal community to broaden approaches beyond traditional methods.

Ojediran Janet

Holds a PhD in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, specializing in farming systems and soil condition control. Her work focuses on advancing sustainable farming methods through research and extension strategies, with the aim being to improve soil health and fertility to enhance productivity and longevity of farming systems. Dr Ojeniran has through projects, translated academic research into practical tools for farmers, promoting resource-efficient soil management and sustainable agricultural growth in rural areas.

Chuks Okogor

Is a Development Economist, with research interests at the intersection of Environmental Economics, Trade, Renewable Energy, Macroeconomics, and Agricultural-Value Chain, with a specific focus on African economy. Grounded in a commitment to rigorous inquiry and scholarly excellence, his academic journey encompasses interdisciplinary engagement, empirical investigation, and collaborative efforts aimed at unravelling the complexities of economic development.

Nkiruka S. Okonkwo

Is a lawyer and development consultant. She is a doctoral candidate for Humanitarian and Development Studies at Redeemer’s University, Nigeria. She has keen interest in relating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the understanding of communities.

 

 

Osaretin G. Okungbowa

Is a development economist dedicated to driving social change in Nigeria through evidence-based policy-making and capacity building. A Research Fellow and Head of the Social Sector Division at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, National Assembly, Abuja. His research focus are in the areas of health, gender, financial inclusion, and governance.

 

 

Eseoghene S. Olaifa

Holds PhD in Economics and lectures at Covenant University. She is an enthusiastic economist and a researcher eager to contribute to team success through hard work, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. She is a hardworking Research Fellow with a demonstrated record of research success and has a willingness to take on extra responsibilities in order to meet team goals.

Offering excellent talents in communication, writing skills and good judgment, she is motivated to learn, grow and excel in research and consultation.

 

 

Olaoye O. Peter

Is a Senior Academic Planning Officer skilled in research and statistical analysis with tools like Excel, Python, PowerBI, and R. With over a decade in academic planning and institutional research, he has excelled in leveraging data for strategic decision-making and improving educational outcomes. Mr Olaoye is experienced in curriculum development and program assessment.

 

 

Olarinre Abiola

Dr Abiola Olarine is a lecturer at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. She is a budding researcher whose specialization is in agricultural and resource economics. She has some publications to this effect and has attended conferences within and outside Nigeria, and she is open to new opportunities in the field of Economics. She holds a doctorate in Agricultural Economics.

Olohunlana Aminat

Is a development economist with a PhD in Economics and extensive experience in credit risk management, research, teaching, and policy analysis. Her research focuses on human and intellectual capital efficiency, firm profitability, growth, and sustainability, with interests in inclusive education, health, gender development, entrepreneurship, governance, and Microfinance sustainability. She has published 16 articles in peer-reviewed journals and actively seek collaboration opportunities, postdoctoral positions, and full-time research roles in academia.

Bosede C. Olopade

Is a distinguished Development Economics lecturer at Adeleke University, Nigeria. She holds a BSc in Economics from Igbinedion University, an MSc from the University of Abuja, and a PhD from Covenant University. With over two decades in academia, Dr. Olopade has authored 20+ papers in esteemed journals, serves on journal boards, and is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES). She has received awards for impactful publications and lecturing excellence.

Olowookere A.O. Oluwakemi

Specializes in tourism and hospitality management with a background in Geography and Planning Science. Her career pursuit focuses on cultural diversity and inclusion, conducting unbiased research globally, engage in fieldwork across Western Africa, particularly Nigeria, and explore nature-based tourism and recreational activities, fostering dialogue on environmental and cultural challenges.

Oluwafemi Z. Olaniyi

Holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan, building on his earlier education at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. His research spans agricultural productivity, welfare economics, and economic development policies, reflected in over 30 publications. He is actively engaged with numerous professional bodies and contributes to curriculum development and community development initiatives. As CEO of Unique Multi-Agribusiness Ventures, he advocates for youth involvement in agriculture, demonstrating leadership in strategic planning and sustainable economic development.

Olanrewaju O. Omosehin

Is currently an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Ibadan, with experience in consultancy and research, he contributes to development interventions and strategy reviews. He holds a BSc in Agricultural Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, an M.Agric.Tech in Agricultural & Resource Economics from the Federal University of Technology Akure, and a Mini-Master in Business Administration from Tekedia Institute. A published author, he is affiliated with IFAMA, CASID, CEPDeR, and ASMN, focusing on agricultural and economic development.

Osabohien Gabriel

Is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience across banking operations, risk, audit, and consulting. He holds a Bachelor’s in Accountancy and an MBA in Financial Management. As a Fellow of Chartered Certified System Accountants-Global and Enterprise Risk Management Professionals, he excels in internal control, audit, and operational risk management. He has held notable roles which include operations management at Perfect Investment and Consulting Services Ltd, focusing on market solutions, economic sustainability, and community development.

Is an Economist by training and hold a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, and a Master’s degree in the same discipline from the University of Ibadan and a doctoral degree in Economics, from the University of Ibadan. Dr Osakede bagged the Dean’s Honours’ Award List for Excellence at the University of Ibadan.  His research interest is in the area of health economics, human development, poverty, labour, gender, and sustainable development. He also has passion for environmental and digital economics. He is a team player, self-motivated and hard-working, and enjoys teaching and conducting research.

Simeon Blessing

Is an Economist and Researcher with passion for exploring economic intricacies. Armed with a First-class degree in Economics and a Master’s with Merit, she utilizes data analytics and econometrics in her research endeavours. Her banking industry experience involves strategically applying economic insights, with a number of her writings delving into economic development, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and highlight the balance between professional and personal growth.

Solomon Caulker

Is an academic and a professional trade finance consultant. He has honed his skills with experience working in the treasury of a financial institution in Sierra Leone, and remotely working with Euro Exim Bank and Trade finance Company as a consultant. He is a faculty member of the Orthodox Christian College, Sierra Leone.

 

Theophilus K.O. Danso

Is an Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA), a UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. He assists in teaching post-graduate courses, planning, designing and conducting institutional research, disseminating research findings and guiding students in designing and undertaking their research. Danso is doctoral scholar in Educational Leadership. He has an MPhil in Educational Planning and a B.Ed. in Mathematics. He also has a Certificate in Global Leadership and a Certificate in Statistical Tools and Basic Indicators for Educational Planning. He is the Editorial Board Secretary for the Journal of Educational Management (JEM) at IEPA. 

Waweru Salome

Is a consultant in the Agribusiness sector focusing particularly on stakeholder engagement and youth economic empowerment towards improved productivity and incomes in Kenya and beyond. Miss Waweru is skilled in conducting research including data collection, programming questionnaires and data analysis. She has keen sense of perception with an eye for details with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Elina Amadhila

Is a senior lecturer and interdisciplinary researcher at the University of Namibia in the Department of Enterprise Development and Management. She holds a PhD in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch. Her research interests are in areas such as: workplace favouritism, agricultural finance, disability and pedagogy.

Bondo Chisanga

Is an economist with specialization in internal auditing at the Judiciary of Zambia. She has developed a robust skillset in analysis of empirical data, research and comprehensive report writing. With an MSc in Economics and Finance, complimented by a Bachelor of economics with honours, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics. Her professional journey is defined by a dedication to rigorous risk analysis and averaging economic insights to enhance organizational decision making.

Alex Adegboye

He is a faculty at Covenant University in Nigeria, and has gained recognition for his contributions to the academic community, with  research papers indexed on reputable platforms like ABS, SCOPUS, Web of Science, and ABDC. In 2022, he had the privilege of working as a Visiting PhD Fellow at the United Nations University World Institute for Development (UNU-WIDER), Helinski, Finland, which further enriched his research experiences while also cherishing his alumni status with the UNU-WIDER and International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) UK.

Ibukunoluwa Akinrinde

Is a member of the North West University (NWU) Trade and Development Research Entity (TRADE), with specialization in trade competitiveness. Prior to this, he worked as an economist with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), National Competitiveness Council of Nigeria (NCCN), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER).

Loveth C. Ode-Omenka

Is a graduate student at Covenant University, Ota, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Department of Economics and Developmental Studies. She holds a B.Sc.(ed) in Economics from the University of Port Harcourt and an M.Sc. in Economics from Bells University of Technology in Ota. Her research interests encompass Development Economics in areas of Agriculture, Food security, climate change, Finance, and gender-related topics. Alongside her doctoral studies, she serves as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Economics, Accounting, and Finance at Bells University of Technology, Ota. Loveth is a member of the Association of Nigeria Economics Society (FMNES) and research associate at DIaDeRC. She has contributed to several publications, including articles and conference papers.

Victoria Okafor

Is a development economist with experience in macroeconomic and microeconomics analysis. Her research entails addressing developmental challenges such as poverty and inequality in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. She is adept in using analytical tools like Stata and E-views to produce and explore data. Dr Okafor engages with stakeholders from the government, think-tanks, and multilateral organizations in policy recommendations to address development issues in Nigeria. She is currently working as a consultant in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice of the World Bank, where she provides analytical and research support on poverty measurements in Nigeria, and at the same time contribute to classifying urban and rural poverty numbers in Nigeria.

Kehinde M. Bello

Is a seasoned Lecturer in Economics at Kings University, Ode-Omu, Osun State, with a Ph.D. from Obafemi Awolowo University. Specializing in International/Finance, Monetary, Development, Agricultural and Gender Economics. Her research spans exchange rate volatility, trade openness, and sustainable development. She has a rich teaching background, having taught at various prestigious Nigerian institutions, and extensive publication credits in prominent academic journals. Dr. Bello has received several scholarships and grants and is an active member of multiple professional organizations, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence and socio-economic development. She is a passionate teacher, researcher, counselor and mentor.

Daniel E. Ufua

Is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Business Management, College of Management and Social Sciences, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Nigeria. He obtained a Master’s Degree in General Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Research and Training, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Management, at the University of Hull, United Kingdom. He, currently, teaches both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Covenant University. His core research interest is in applying systems thinking and management science. Dr. Ufua uses systemic intervention and broad stakeholder engagement as key methodologies for his research. He also applies both qualitative and quantitative approaches. He has published several research materials on international academic journal outlets and conferences, some done independently and others in collaboration with co-authors.
