DePECOS Institutions and Development Research Centre (DIaDeRC) has successfully strengthened its presence in Asia continent following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beijing Huatec Information Technology Company Limited, China. The MoU, finalised March 2025, aims to foster enhanced educational cooperation between both organisations.
This strategic partnership is set to open doors for a variety of initiatives, including exchange programmes at both professional and informational levels, the development of joint educational projects, and collaborative efforts that will serve the mutual interests of both parties.
The MoU outlines plan to establish robust training services aimed at bolstering international exchanges, staff training, internships, and academic research collaborations. Both DIaDeRC and Huatec will work together to provide specialised technical support for teaching and training in key professional fields. As part of the agreement, Huatec will be responsible for the commissioning and installation of laboratory hardware, as well as the software required for the projects, while DIaDeRC will provide suitable venues for hardware deployment and training activities.
Further, the partnership will see the two organisations co-launch research projects in diverse fields, including innovative curriculum design, major co-construction initiatives, and the enhancement of local staff skills. These efforts will serve as a multifaceted platform for both organisations, particularly within the Asia-Pacific region.
One of the key components of the MoU is the exchange programme, which will allow for participation in international projects organised by both organisations. The agreement also offers opportunities for Premium members of the African Scholars Mentorship Network (ASMN Premium) to benefit in degree and non-degree programmes at universities and colleges in China.
The MoU, which will remain in effect for the next five years, outlines the commitment of both parties to support the implementation of international projects. These initiatives are designed to enhance the professional skill sets of individuals from both DIaDeRC and Huatec, further strengthening their collaborative efforts in the global education and technology sectors.
