The annual conference of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) themed ‘Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria: Imperatives, Implications and Impacts,’ had Professor Osabuohien serving in the capacity of conference editor in the editorial unit during the conference that held from 3rd to 5th September 2024 at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja
The conference was a notable event as it attracted government agencies, seasoned professors of economics within and outside the academia, industry players, policymakers, researchers, development partners and students. There were insightful plenary sessions with engaging conversations, the presentation of quality research papers, and product exhibitions.
Addressing the theme of this year’s conference, the NES President, Professor Adeola Adenikinju highlighted the importance of economists participating in policy formulation and implementation processes in the country. Thus encouraging policy engagement between the government, industry and academia to aid the development of the country. The conference presented a platform for collaborations and partnerships between the private sector and academia. It is also worth mentioning that DIaDeRC Chair, Prof Evans Osabuohien, who is a member of NES Council served as the Conference Editor for the conference.
The event was graced by DIaDeRC Research Lead Dr Solomon Okunade, and another DIaDeRC Team member, Dr Victoria Okafor. The conference venue also served as a platform for camaraderie between the DIaDeRC team and some ASMN premium members attending the annual colloquium.
